VALHMOR’S STORY

Previously known as Valhmor Borg Import/Export Company limited, the original company was founded in 1975 by the late Valhmor Borg. He was one of the pioneers to trade in the cold storage business in Malta, storing frozen meats and other food products. The company was taken over by Food Trading Ltd in 2011, which is a member of the Azzopardi Group and has since come to be known, quite simply, as Valhmor.

WHAT VALHMOR DOES

Valhmor’s main activity is in the dealing of fresh and frozen foodstuffs, including meat, poultry, fish, seafood, frozen vegetables and ready-made foods. Fresh produce includes beef, lamb, pork, dairy products and wine. These are acquired through the local market and imported from 35 countries, then sold on to the catering, wholesale and retail trades and delivered by its own fleet of refrigerated trucks.

Valhmor employs over 180 people and operates from Pinto Cold Stores in Marsa, where it has a refrigeration capacity of over 3,000 pallets. Clients include most of Malta’s top hotels, restaurants and large retail outlets. The company also caters for military, cruise and cargo ship requirements and offers contract catering to government departments and hospitals.

Valhmor Borg started operating in 1975 and its main business activity was the importation of fresh and frozen foodstuffs as well as wines. Azzopardi Group purchased the entity in 2011 and, through the use of various group synergies, enabled the business to grow further over the years. Today we employ in excess of 180 employees and import from over 35 countries and our hard work enables us to offer the best quality products from the best sources worldwide at competitive prices.
